Martha Jefferson Randolph was the eldest daughter of Thomas Jefferson and his wife Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson.

Nicknamed "Patsy," she was well educated under the direction of her father.

Much like her father in looks and personality, Martha was exceptionally close to him.

Because her father was a widower, Martha served as First Lady when she visited the nation's capital.

She is buried in the graveyard at Monticello.
